New code of ethics for case managers has been launched at the House of Lords.
Lord Hunt of Wirral was due to host yesterday’s launch of the code, which has been jointly produced by the Case Management Society of the UK and the British Association of Brain Injury Case Managers.
It is designed to be an ethical guide for case managers who work with injured clients to ensure they are restored to a reasonable quality of life.
Helen Spillards, CMSUK board member, said: “The most significant thing is that it is a joint venture between CMSUK and BABICM. It is important case managers have sound principles and the code provides a simple structure for case managers to follow and provides assurance to relevant parties involved in the process.”
Clients are often referred to case managers by personal injury lawyers or insurers who wish to ensure clients receive the necessary rehabilitation, care, accommodation, equipment or services without having to wait for their compensation claim to be settled.
The launch is supported by a range of organisations including the Association of British Insurers and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
