FAQs

As this may be your first experience with the legal world or your first personal injury claim, it is natural for you to have lots of questions. We at Legal Link UK would like to encourage you to come forward and ask questions about anything you are not sure about. Some of the main ones are as follows:

What does 'No Win No Fee' really mean?

No win no fee means that if you do not win your claim, you do not have to pay your solicitor a fee. Insurance will cover you against the other side's costs and expenses. We will explain the No Win No Fee agreement to you clearly before you start a claim.

Will I have to pay a fee if I win my claim?

If your claim is successful and you're awarded damages, the other side's insurance company will normally pay all your solicitor's costs in addition to the damages, which means that you pay nothing. There are some exceptions but your solicitor will be able to explain this fully to you before your claim starts.

What injuries can I claim for?

You do not have to sustain a serious injury to be entitled to compensation. You are entitled in law to be compensated for any injury arising out of a non-fault accident which you sustain.

How much will I get?

This depends on the extent of your injury.

Is there a time limit on submitting a claim for personal injuries?

There is a statutory limit of three years from the date of the accident and a claim can be submitted at any stage during this period.

How long will a claim for personal injuries take to settle?

This will largely depend on the nature of the injury involved. Straightforward injuries should be resolved and settled within a six to twelve month period.

Do I need to have reported my injuries to my GP or hospital?

It can be beneficial to have a written record of the injuries either at your GP or hospital but this is not essential. If you have not been to visit your GP or hospital it should not prevent you from presenting a claim.

Who will represent me in my claim for personal injuries?

Our carefully selected specialist personal injury solicitors who have agreed to our exceptional service standards will represent you.

Can I be compensated for losses other than injuries?

You are entitled to recover any loss which you incur as a result of an accident including damaged clothing, expenses and loss of earnings.

Will I have to visit a solicitor's office?

You will not be inconvenienced or expected to attend the offices of our appointed Panel Solicitor. We will actually arrange a home visit to explain the process to you.
